This interesting cultivar is grown primarily for its attractive mottled foliage.  It has been grown and distributed under other names, including A. marmoratus and A. zebrina.  With A. speciosus, it is the parent of the very popular hybrid A. A. longicaulis is widely distributed in Burma, Vietnam, Thailand  and peninsular Malaysia.
