The Flower Show is always one of the highlights of the annual Convention of the American Gloxinia and Gesneriad Society. The show at the 1998 Convention in Chicago was no exception.
As is typical, the show was not particularly large -- local growers are so busy organizing the Convention that they can't grow as many plants as they'd like, and those coming from afar have problems carrying many plants to the Convention. But the quality was high, and there were some spectacular plants.
The plants listed below consititute a significant sampling of those in the show room. In most cases, there has been little attempt to capture the "whole plant" as a show specimen. There are lots of closeups and plant details, so the photos are illustrations of these, rather than of the "show quality" of the plants.
