Seemannia sylvatica

Grown at Palm Hammock Nursery

Palm Hammock Nursery, just south of Miami, grows a wide variety of orchids, begonias and gesneriads.  This Seemannia was growing in a greenhouse, as was the plant with the flower here;  a bed of S sylvatica was growing in part sun behind the greenhouses.  A photo of a flower variant of the species (possibly a hybrid) can be seen here.
