Nematanthus corticola
Photo
by John Boggan
Grown at Smithsonian Institution greenhouses
A number of Nematanthus have flowers dangling beneath the foliage on long pedicels. N. crassifolius and N. brasiliensis are other good examples, as is N. 'Stoplight', a hybrid of fritschii and longipes. Other photos of N. corticola can be seen here and here -- note that the length of the pedicel does vary significantly.
