Another photo of the flowers on this bat-pollinated species can be seen here, and the seed pods here.  This species can grow to be a substantial shrub.  A different species, P. tenuiflora, has similar open waxy blooms but lavender flowers.  Another species, P. plumeroides, forms a small tree.
