Streptocarpus formosus (pale form)

This pale form of the S. formosus appears to be most similar to the form most widely distributed in North America. The standard form is deeper in overall tone, and seems to have more throat spotting. S. formosus has been used in the production of interesting hybrids, sometimes with spotting distributed throughout the corolla, but it does tend to pass on its tendency to low flower production. This is somewhat compensated for by the relatively large size of the flowers, and their interesting shape. A closeup of the flower can be seen by clicking here.
